With the ability to automatically reprofile wheel flange tread without disassembling the wheelset and automatically reprofiling the flange tread of a single wheelset, the CNC Underfloor Wheel Lathe applies to all types of CRH EMUs, current passenger cars, and freight cars. It can fulfill the requirement for two wheel sets on a single bogie to be automatically reprofiled simultaneously.
The semi-closed loop control function of the CNC underfloor wheel lathes railway allows for the automatic turning of the wheelset tread profile.
The lathe is equipped with both automatic and manual control modes and offers the option of simultaneous machining on both sides or just one side.
All varieties of CRH EMUs and other vehicles' wheelset treads can be automatically reprofiled, and replaceable spindle box clamps are available. The operating overhang of the press-down mechanism is less than 300 mm.
To achieve the machining of the wheelset under the unique conditions of the lower vehicle apron and closer to the spindle box, the elevation of the press-down mechanism (excluding the clamps) is consistent with that of the rail between cars.
The main drive is used in friction roller driving mode. The wheelset that is being machined is supported and driven by the friction-driving rollers, which also enable the wheelset's radial orientation. For friction driving, separate left and proper roller racks are used, and a different spindle motor powers each roller rack.

Wheel diameter, Qr value, the space between the backs of the wheel flanges, tread run-out and axial play, wheel flange thickness, wheel flange height, and a contour drawing of the track on the wheel flange were the values that were measured for the wheelset before machining.
Wheel flange thickness and wheel diameter are the machining targets.

What other functions Underfloor Wheel Lathe can perform?
The "machining suggestion" function of the control system enables cost-effective re-profiling and displays machining procedures with various wheel flange thicknesses and wheel diameters on the operator interface for the operator's selection, allowing the wheel diameter difference to be brought within the operating window's specified limit.
To ensure measurement accuracy of the contour, make the number of measuring points changeable between 50 and 100, and achieve reasonable and cost-effective re-profiling, the shape of the wheelset is calculated using the continuous measurement method.
To direct the feeding and retracting of the vehicle to be machined, safety lights must be installed in easily observable areas and show the wheelset's initial positioning status.
The lathe's networking feature allows it to communicate with the wheelset's tread diagnosis system and integrate with the EMU information management system.
